. ❤ . Peace. I wish you a pleasant day. (Please look for accounts and analyses of the phenomenon called EDSA Revolution or EDSA-1, if you may wish to, so that you can at least give my present post a hearing chance; here’s an academic paper on it (pdf): wps10_134 . The Filipinos are peaceloving and do not condone violence.)
I swear by my most beloved grandfather’s grave that my president did not swear at their president.
I listened to and watched that interview. I understand the language. I speak the language. I am a native born Filipino. We don’t swear at home, not ever the tiniest swear word. That’s how we were brought up. That’s how we bring up our kids, too. So my ears are fine-tuned whenever swear words occur.
I voted for our beloved president. Yes, despite his outrageously rough manners (so they say) and his emphatic swear words. Everyone (except you dear reader, and your friends, maybe, and family and neighbors and community and many many other people also… 🙂 . 🙂 Peace 🙂 ) around the globe is openly cursing him behind his back by publishing on paper and online. Shame on you, all of you who badmouth him. Go to him and tell him what you think of him. Tell it directly to his face. We dare you. You have no leg to stand on. Why? Because you depend only on popular rhetoric and the bandwagon.
Live in our country for even just a few weeks and you will see what we mean, and why we defend our president. See for yourself that it’s a beautiful place despite the poverty. Experience for yourself what generous genuine warm regard for a stranger means. Listen to the person on the street tell you that we are heading towards better days, and they are thankful to the president and his co-workers for all the hard work and the heartfelt dedication for the people. Talk to people in the neighborhoods that used to be chaotic because of the drug menace. Find somebody who used to curse at the inept police but now finds ways of befriending them and helping them at their job. Or find an alternative news source, at the least.
On behalf of my president …… sir, Mr. President, of the strongest nation on earth as of today, I am sorry that/if your feelings were hurt (… I know that you are a brilliant man so I don’t assume anything on your side about this matter.) I most certainly do not trust the corporate media on how they are handling this issue. Our president has most certainly nothing against you, sir, that I am sure. He was not cursing you. All that tirade was intense anger at all of us Filipinos who are outrageously ignorant about how a nation’s sovereignty works, journalists the most. This meaning of his words gets lost if individual phrases or words or sentences are pulled away from the comprehensive context. If I can get hold of the transcript I can interpret the entire thing, thought for thought and intention for intention. Thank you for your generous understanding about the matter. May God bless you and your nation. — ang sacadalang —
Since our president is fighting for our nation, then I add my voice to the collective defense for him. He takes care of us, we take care of him. That’s how it is with us at home. We don’t call him “Tatay Digong” for nothing. That’s “Daddy Digong”. We are just beginning to fix our nation and we can see that our Tatay Digong has mountainloads of problems to attend to, not the least the putting up of facilities for the rehabilitation of the drug victims. Our country actually needs help from the international community and this is how the president engages with the other nation leaders who respect him as the representative of a sovereign nation. When he speaks to another leader of his level he speaks for us all, in behalf of us all. This is the reason why he works out towards friendly relations with other nations. See for yourself how the other ASEAN leaders treat him (if you can find a video of the recent summit in Laos) and you will wonder where on earth are those nasty write-ups about him getting their arguments from. If they are getting it from Ms. Leila de Lima then they better look for another source because this lady has already lost her credibility back at home. Anyone who badmouths our president based on incorrect bases simply hurts us all Filipinos.
The president’s vice-presidential running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, explains in the simplest way possible what is happening to the country now. (I got to know the president’s sincerity through Senator Cayetano. He is a major reason why I learned to trust the president.) I’m sorry that I can’t translate the Filipino sentences into English right now (I just stole some time from my school work (a major major paper on honoring parents) just to write this post 😀 ). I hope I can soon, then I will post it also.
Dear fellow human being, don’t believe readily in unexact stories, especially the ones propagated by corporate media. If criminals have human rights, ordinary citizens have human rights also. If criminals are not stopped then ordinary citizens suffer. Sixteen million ordinary citizens, 90% of which are on poverty line, voted for Duterte in hopes that he can work out the eradication of crime, impunity, and corruption. He is doing his best and giving his life into not disappointing this hope. He is clearly working out for the human rights of the 90 million Filipinos. Filipinos know what “discipline” is. Now that they see it being implimented then they have become hopeful of a better society, a society without impunity, a society where they can trust that the police are doing their jobs of imposing the rule of the law, and where the youth can start to witness a society ruled by law and thus lead responsible lives. If Duterte does not succeed then our hope is lost, we will find it difficult to look for another who has this same political will and sincerity and compassion, and in the meantime our kids are in danger of falling prey into dangerous lives. So, please, commentators who do not understand the ENTIRE situation, who are gullible enough to believe that our police is trigger-happy, kindly do your research first before opening your mouth, or simply back off before you do damage either to yourself or to us.
Hugs. Take care. Peace. Thanks for dropping by. Stay healthy. ❤ 🙂
